Calendar savings add up to donation Erasmus MC!

Calendar savings add up to donation Erasmus MC!

As previously communicated with you, from now on Ritra’s wall calendars will no longer be automatically printed and sent out. Besides the fact that this is a much more sustainable process, which has led to the reduction of your and our footprint, it has of course also resulted in a nice financial windfall. Thanks to your cooperation in our new way of working, we were able to save €1500! A beautiful amount to support a good cause that Ritra Cargo cares about.

Reducing our footprint and saving money

As previously announced in our newsletter and service emails: starting this year, Ritra’s wall calendars will no longer be automatically printed and sent out. It turned out to be a great way forward. Although you signed up in large numbers (250 calendars) yourself, we ordered 150 fewer copies than last year.

It’s a result we are quite proud of, naturally. It means many of you enjoy using our wall calendar, and the previous recipients who did not use our calendar(s) have now avoided unnecessary printing. It goes without saying that all this has also resulted in nice cost savings. Thanks to your cooperation, we were able to save as much as €1500!

Donation to team Erasmus MC Children’s Hospital – Center for Lysosomal and Metabolic Diseases

Ritra Cargo is a great advocate of sustainable and socially responsible business practices. The amount we were left with had to be transferred to a good cause, and we did not have to think long about it.

Our choice fell on the campaign set up by the doctors, nurses, laboratory specialists, dieticians and researchers at the Center for Lysosomal and Metabolic Diseases at Erasmus MC. They are taking action for 3FM Serious Request. In the week before Christmas, from December 18 to 24, three 3FM DJs will raise money for the Metakids Foundation. This organization focuses on research into more than 1,900 metabolic diseases in children.

What exactly do the doctors at Erasmus MC do?

Erasmus MC Rotterdam’s Center for Lysosomal and Metabolic Diseases:

‘In the Netherlands, 10,000 families face a metabolic disease every day. Metabolic diseases have an enormous impact on the quality of life of patients and their loved ones, and as a group are still the most deadly disease among children.

Every day at the center, we are committed to building a better future for patients with metabolic disease and researching innovative treatments. As doctors, nurses, laboratory specialists, dieticians and researchers, we therefore know the impact of a metabolic disease on the patient and on the family.

This is why we want to create awareness through the 3FM Serious Request campaign and thereby raise money to make metabolic diseases treatable.’

Action!

The doctors have focused on two themes that they will draw attention to with this action: Nutrition & Exercise. Things that most people take for granted, but for metabolic patients are unfortunately a huge limitation.

For the theme of nutrition, some of the center’s staff will follow a strict protein-restricted diet. Something the patients have to do for life.

For the theme ‘exercise’ the staff will get moving individually and together by covering the distance from Rotterdam to Zwolle (150km) several times with all kinds of different sports activities. You can follow them via the website.
