How are sea freight costs calculated at Ritra Cargo?

Sea freight tariffs always consist of a number of fixed components. The price is determined on the basis of these components. We include the following factors when calculating sea freight tariffs:
  1. The country of origin and the destination country
  2. The type of goods
  3. The shipping date (ETD)
  4. The size of the shipment: FCL or LCL?

Ritra Cargo sea freight containers

For sea freight, your cargo is transported in special containers or pallet containers with a timber bottom tray. These containers have standardised dimensions, are made from metal and are used for container transport of a variety of goods. Ritra Cargo offers a wide selection of sea freight containers. For example, for FCL shipments you can choose from 40’, 40’ HC or 20’ containers and more. You can also opt for groupage consignments. This is calculated on the number of cubic metres your goods take up in the container, or the actual weight. You always pay for whichever is the highest.

Cost of sea freight: all-in and transparent

Our quotation will always quote an all-in sea freight tariff. This means it is clear what exactly you are paying for, and there are no unpleasant surprises afterwards. Transparency in sea freight costs is extremely important to Ritra cargo.
Finally, there are a number of additional costs that may affect your sea freight. This could include transport costs, customs documentation, shipping documents, and Terminal Handling Charges. These are the so-called local surcharges. You will receive a separate itemised list of these costs from us, together with the quotation.
