Restrictions in Qingdao because of SCO summit

On June 9th and 10th, Qingdao will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. Leaders of powerhouses such as China, Russia, and India will meet at this time. Major security measures will be taken surrounding this summit. This has an enormous impact on daily life in Qingdao. All transports from and to Qingdao will also experience some interruptions because of this.

Measures surrounding the summit

Qingdao authorities will be taking extra security measures surrounding the summit. In the weeks preceding the summit on the 9th and 10th, the following should be taken into account:

• Extra checks on ships entering and leaving Qingdao
• Dangerous goods will not be loaded or unloaded
• Due to security measures and the environment, factory production will be limited
• Mandatory closure of office buildings in direct proximity of the event location
• Limited space on ships starting from week 21

These measures could result in delays. That is why we advise you to supply your goods a little earlier than usual.

Qingdao agent will remain available

From June 7th to 10th, all offices in the proximity of the event location are required to be closed. Many shipping companies and forwarders are based in this region and will therefore mostly or partly not be operational.

Our agent is also based in direct proximity of the event location but has taken measures to minimize the negative consequences of the closure. For instance, as much work as is possible will be done in advance. Aside from this, during these days, employees will work from an alternate location as well as being available by mobile telephone.
