Strikes in the Port of Rotterdam
24 November 2015
Dockworkers are planning to go on strike for a total of 6 days in December and January. They want to force a 9 years job guarantee as a security for the expected job loss caused by computerization of Rotterdam Port.
Members of the labor union FNV have already agreed on the planned actions. The other labor union CNV will vote on Thursday. The strike committee will meet on Thursday to discuss on the details of the actions they will take.
FNV leader Niek Stam advised today that he will not announce the strikes beforehand, this is to prevent ships from taking another route and avoid the Port of Rotterdam.
